Minutes of previous exec meeting
The minutes were agreed and approved
Matters arising from Previous Minutes
- Clockwise project is on schedule, with most roads open, including Nuns Road, which takes the pressure off St Martin’s Way. Pepper Street and Castle Drive still to be completed.
- CRAG still has had no response from the Council over their concerns with the e-scooters. If they have not heard by March, they will look to move from supporting to opposing them on safety grounds
- Sam Dixon was present at Whitefriars’ Residents’ Association AGM about a month ago. She is understood to have given a personal commitment that ANPR cameras will be installed next year. If this happens, BERA will request them for Park Street. There is much less traffic contravening the one-way here, but there have been several near misses.
- Both recent social events were well attended and deemed to be successful. Mike thanked Fiona for delivering the leaflets. £65 was raised from the carol singing, which will go to The War Graves Commission Foundation, in memory of Mike Mercer. It was noted that very few people carry cash at the moment, so not sure this is an effective way to fundraise. It might be that we do the carol singing purely as a social event in the future.
- Mike has not yet been to see Ruth Cullis re her concerns over the Drill Hall Gardens, but will do in the future. The Council will provide equipment for it to be cleaned up in the Spring
- Following the incident with crowds of youths running up and down Frodsham Street, as reported by Adrian Rushforth, the Chief Inspector, Mike Ankers, has promised an increase in uniformed Police Officers in Chester City Centre to 14 from mid January. John Dwyer, the Police and Crimes Commisioner, is backing this.
AGM January 5th 2022
- Mike to amend the proposed agenda and covering note. Fiona to email this to members and also post it on website . A mailshot will be delivered door to door in January, when we know if it can be held at the Albion, or via Zoom
- It was agreed that the membership fee will be waived for another year. Bill will add this to his report at the AGM
- Mike is to invite Sam Dixon, Jane Makin and a police representative to the AGM
- Bill suggested adding the BERA website as an agenda item, to gauge how useful it is. This was agreed
A.O.B
- Fiona has asked Matt Rowlands to provide Mike with the necessary logins for renewing the BERA website domain names
