Matters arising from Previous Minutes
- Mike has unsuccessfully tried to contact Ruth Cullis – but will email her now that the community clean up of the Drill Hall Gardens has been agreed for 2nd June.
- The Albion’s loss of Community Asset Status – this is still pending, awaiting Christina’s decision
- Moving Traffic Offences – The process of the Council taking over powers from the police has gone to consultation. Sam Dixon has asked for an ANPR in Park Street
- CRAG membership – Bill has received an invoice which he will pay shortly
- Wheelie Bins – The Council says that there should be no wheelie bins, either private or commercial, on the streets in the BERA area. If anyone sees one they can report it and the Council will take action
- Graffiti in Drill Hall Gardens – Sam Dixon is trying to get this removed. There has been a spate of graffiti around the City. The police are studying CCTV and the graffiti tags and will take action against the perpetrators. Fiona said she reported some racist graffiti to the Council a couple of weeks ago and it has yet to be removed
Queen’s Jubilee
- Dave and Jane are not proposing ay events at The Cross Keys
- Christina will run a Jubilee themed quiz at The Albion on Thursday 2nd June at 7.30pm. She will provide sandwiches
- Mike suggested a clean up of the Drill Hall Gardens on the afternoon of the 2nd He will get tools and bags from the Council and arrange for them to pick them up later. Mike will explore if the Council will provide insurance. Jim has kindly offered to strim the area before that. Dan and Fiona expressed concern that the Council seem to be doing nothing themselves and it is all left to residents.
Quicks
Originally, the Council objected to the height and mass of the proposed structure. The proposal has been amended to try to address this. There is no decision yet.
A.O.B
- Luke said that his recycling boxes have gone missing and you cannot order new ones form the Council website. He has been told to use an ‘appropriate container’. This was felt to be unsatisfactory. Mike will raise the issue with the Council
- Dan said the Council need to review what jobs they are undertaking. He cites litter, including a broken bottle at the bottom of the steps up to the Walls in St John Street, which has been there for weeks. Fiona mentioned overflowing rubbish bins at the weekend. There is general dissatisfaction with the appearance of the streets in Chester
- Fiona mentioned that she had seen several vehicles turning right out of Park Street into Pepper Street, which is clearly marked as left turn only. It was felt an ANPR camera would be useful here
- Bill suggested that we should put forward a Residents’ Association backed candidate at the next Council elections. He said this had worked well in Stockport. Mike said he would bring this up at the next CRAG meeting on the 8th June
Date of next meeting 22nd June in The Cross Keys
