Chester Rows Fire Protection Test
Cheshire West and Chester Council are committed to conserving the rich heritage in Chester City Centre. As part of this we’re hoping to install additional fire protection on Chester Rows.
We are pleased to confirm that Cheshire West and Chester Council have appointed Charles Thomas Heritage Fire Protection specialistswhoprovide innovative fire protection solutions to the Heritage sector; they are working alongside our Heritage Architects Donald Insall Associates, Ramboll M&E consultants, and our Heritage Contractor Recclesia. To ensure the new Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) system works effectively in providing a low likelihood of false alarms and early detection, we’re going to install four test systems in the below areas,
Rosies Nightclub, Northgate Street Row East
Olive Tree Brasserie, Watergate Street Row South
Powell Jewellery, Bridge Street Row East
Diane Harbridge Bridal Couture, Bridge Street Row West
These test systems will be monitored over a short period and tested prior to the main installation across the Rows. The test(s) will include setting off controlled smoke pellets at each location, at Rows level. The proposed start date for the installation of the test systems is WC 05/06/2023. The smoke pellet testing is currently planned to take place on 1 dayapproximately 28/06/2023. The test will be carried out by Charles Thomas, witnessed by CWaC Building Control and Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service, who will be involved in the test to ensure it operates safely, these will take place early in the morning and last no longer than 60 seconds at each location. Please do not report this to the emergency servicesand we will be informing our colleagues in the emergency services and CCTV.
