The Christmas policing operation continues, which complements the work being done as part of Op Momentum. You will see officers patrolling the City, who are also supported by plain clothes officers who are seeking to identify suspects to detect and deter criminal activity.
I have authorised Dispersals to be in place over the weekends throughout December, to allow crime and disorder to be dealt with at an early stage and remove individuals causing problems from the City for a period of 48 hours. We continue to gather evidence in relation to persistent offenders to implement longer term solutions.
As I mentioned last week the Festive Night of Action, which took place on Saturday 2nd December, was a great success and you may already have seen the video and updates on the Chester Police Facebook page. We are going to carry out similar operations throughout the year as part of both the day and night time economy.
The annual Cheshire Constabulary Carol Concert took place at Chester Cathedral this week. It was a great success and nice to be able to welcome the wider force to Chester.
We continue to deploy Project Servator to the City, which are highly visible deployments of specially trained officers to detect, deter and disrupt criminal activity. Again you will see these deployments being publicised on social media and again would really appreciate these posts being shared on your own organisation’s social media accounts as this amplifies the deterrent and reassurance message to a wider audience.
Armed patrols continue to be carried out by officers from the Cheshire and North Wales Armed Policing Alliance. These are also there as a deterrent and to reassure the public, complementing the Hostile Vehicle Mitigation that is in place. They are not in response to any specific intelligence.
On Friday City Beat officers supported Operation Luna which was coordinated by Paul Fielder and during the day involved partnership activity in the City. On Friday night a team of officers deployed with Passive Drug Dogs. The operation was supported by the Special Constabulary and British Transport Police. This operation achieved the following results;
45 Stop Searches
20 Positive Searches
12 Dispersals Issued
2 Arrests – 1 for a Fail to Appear Warrant and the other for Drunk and Disorderly.
Further operations, of this nature, are planned for the rest of the month.
There is a national Counter Terrorism Winter Vigilance campaign taking place anyone can please support this across your networks it would be really appreciated. I have attached a link below to the Protect UK website with further information and a toolkit containing items you can utilise at your premises or on social media.

Below is a link to Residents Voice, which is a survey which allows you to tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area. Whilst it is called Residents Voice, this is also open for Businesses to complete which is something I would encourage. I know this has been circulated before but it can be completed by people again, as many times as they want, as the issues may change and it’s important that the results are current.
