Survey of residents deliveries & collections of parcels and other freight in the Chester City Centre

MDS Transmodal (MDST), which is a specialist Chester-based freight transport consultancy, is working with the support of Chester BID and Cheshire West and Chester Council on a freight study for Chester city centre.  As the work is being carried out by MDST on a pro bono basis, the results of the project might influence the thinking of the BID and the Council but there’d be no requirement for them to implement any recommendations that might result.

The principal objective of the study is to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of deliveries and collections of parcels and freight in Chester city centre (defined as the area within the city walls), while also seeking to reduce the wider impacts of freight movements and respect the heritage nature of the city and the pedestrianisation of the city centre during the day.

We’re interested therefore to understand any key issues relating to deliveries and collections of parcels and freight that affect residents in the city centre and to seek any views from residents on potential measures to address them.

The results of the survey will only be published in an aggregated form and the data collected will only be used for the purposes of the study.  Although the study has not been commissioned by the BID and the Council, its aggregated results will be shared with them as part of the evidence base.  We’d also be happy to share the aggregated results with CRAG, so they can be distributed to your members and their residents.

MDST would therefore be very grateful if you could ask residents, via CRAG’s associations, if they would like to respond to the survey, which can be completed online via the link shown below.

The survey is open now – and will close at midnight on Sunday 16th February.
