City Centre Policing Update 12th October 2025

Good afternoon,

This week we have continued to deliver training sessions to shop staff in relation to business crime and how they can prevent it. There is a great network of businesses working with Chester Against Business Crime, the CCTV Team and City Beat Team to tackle retail crime in the City. We will continue to deliver such talks to make Chester a difficult place for criminals to operate in. If you are aware of any businesses that wish to have such training please let me know and I can arrange it with the team.

Following a number of reports of anti social behaviour at an address in the City we have successfully obtained a partial Closure Order. This means that only listed individuals are allowed to attend the address. This is another tactic we use to tackle crime and anti social behaviour. We have further applications in relation to other locations that are being progressed. Likewise, we utilise the Community Protection Notices and Criminal Behaviour Orders to tackle individuals with a view to curtailing their poor behaviour. If such behaviour is witnessed it is really important that it is reported to us so we can deal with the matter and gather evidence in order to take action.

We have carried out several Project Servator deployments in the City. Project Servator aims to disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public. Our officers are experienced and specially trained to spot the tell-tale signs that someone is planning or preparing to commit an act of crime. Please follow the link to see such deployments in operation and find out more.  What is Project Servator?

We continue to have the support of our Forcewide resources such as Armed Response Vehicles and Roads Crime Unit to provide a visible presence in the City Centre. We also continue to deploy plain clothes officers in order to target criminals who operate in the City.

We are recruiting people to join the Special Constabulary. Being a Special Constable is a unique opportunity to do something special both for yourself and your community. This vital role gives you invaluable experiences and training that you can use throughout your life to achieve your personal or professional goals. As a Special Constable you will be provided with full training, a uniform, and out of pocket expenses and have all the powers and authority of regular officers.

A Special Constable in Cheshire Constabulary is someone who will be valued, supported and integrated into the wider policing family. They’re someone who will learn new skills, see new things and make tangible differences to the lives of the public they serve. A Special Constable is someone who makes new friends, sees life from new perspectives and upholds the law.

We continue to place updates on the work we are doing on our Social Media accounts. If you are on Facebook please follow us. On our Chester Police page we report on the activity we’re carrying out and have appeals for information relating to incidents that have taken place.

We utilise Residents Voice to identify the issues that are causing the public concern. As the survey is anonymous we try to feedback on social media the work we are doing to dela with these issues. Please continue to complete these surveys. Whilst it is called a Residents Voice survey, it is equally important we hear from those who work in the City, so this is open to everyone to complete. If you have completed it before, please complete it on a regular basis so we are kept up to date with the current issues that are causing concern.

The link to the survey is below, and should only take a few minutes to complete.
