Last weekend saw Chester Race Meetings on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. I authorised a Dispersal to be in place over the weekend to enable officers to deal with any issues at an early stage. We deployed additional officers into the City on Friday and Saturday evenings to police the Night Time Economy. On Friday evening one Dispersal was issued and three arrests were made.
On Friday afternoon we deployed Police Officers and PCSOs to Eastgate Street, along with representatives of partner agencies such as Independent Domestic Violence Advisors and Tomorrow’s Women, to engage with the public delivering messages around safety, but also advertising the use of the Hollie Guard App, which allows people to summon assistance if they are in danger along with a range of other features. We were able to give out a number of vouchers for the enhanced version of the app to people. This presence also involved a Digi Van and our Safer Streets Safety Bus being present, so provided a visible presence.
We also took part in Operation Luna which was a multi-agency operation with Police and Cheshire West and Chester local authority teams, including the Community Safety Wardens, Town Centre Manager, Paul Fielder and Licensing.
This involved the Police Licensing Officer carrying out 8 Licensed Premises checks.
Cheshire West and Chester Licensing and Taxi Enforcement officers also deployed. They visited 6 premises and carried out 3 vehicle inspections.
A Drugs Dog operation was carried out involving two Passive Drug Dogs, supported by a team of Police officers.
The following results were achieved by the Police and Local Authority Teams;
31 Stop Searches
11 Community Resolutions
1 Dispersal issued
43 Alcohol Confiscations
Business engagements were carried out
Discarded drugs recovered.
This was another successful operation in terms of setting the tone around behaviour in the city centre, by detecting and deterring offences, whilst providing a visible presence to provide reassurance and engagement.
On Saturday evening we once again had additional officers on duty policing the Night Time Economy this resulted in another Dispersal Notice being issued, and five arrests
We continue to deploy on our Operation Momentum Patrol Plan, with the support of officers from Armed Response and the Roads Crime Unit providing a presence both in terms of reassurance and engagement, aswell as enforcement I respect of offences and those causing anti social behaviour. We are continuing to progress longer term solutions in relation to individuals who cause problems in the City, gathering evidence to issue Community Protection Notices and Criminal Behaviour Orders.
If there are any questions, please get in touch.
Kind regards,
James
