Chester City Centre Policing Weekly Update 20th November 2023

Operation Momentum continues with high visibility patrolling in the City Centre, supported by colleagues from the Armed Response Unit and the Roads Crime Unit.

As we approach Christmas you will see an increased Police presence in the City Centre. We have a number of operations planned which will include plain clothes deployments and the use of the Passive Drug Dogs. We will be working closely with partner agencies to ensure a safe Christmas period for everyone.

We have carried out Project Servator deployments in the City, which are designed to provide a reassuring presence whilst at the same time deterring and detecting criminality. These operations will continue and I would ask that any suspicious behaviour is reported to us.

This week also saw Operation Sceptre taking place across the country. This is a national operation but we have carried out activity locally including Pop Up Police Stations, Knife Sweeps of parks, including the Grosvenor Park and Northgate Locks and the deployment of Knife Surrender Bins. We have also carried out engagement work with schools to educate people about the risks of carrying knives.

Below is a link to Residents Voice, which is a survey which allows you to tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area. Whilst it is called Residents Voice, this is also open for Businesses to complete which is something I would encourage. I know this has been circulated before but it can be completed by people again as the issues may change and it’s important that the results are current.
