Following some reports of anti social behaviour on the Bridge Street Row area, I authorised a Dispersal to be in place for forty eight hours at the start of the week. This resulted in five people being dispersed, then subsequently three of these arrested the following day for breaching this. They are no excluded from the City for a longer period, whilst on Bail awaiting a court appearance. We continue to target this area to reduce incidents of ASB, and I have commissioned a review of this area, by our Design Out Crime Officer, who will look for potential solutions with the location to deter this kind of behaviour.
We have conducted a plain clothes operation in the City during the week, which resulted in the arrest for Possession With Intent to Supply a controlled drug, aswell as another arrest for Possession of a Controlled Drug. A number of Stop Searches being carried out by the officers. This type of work will continue to target those engaged in this type of activity making Chester a hostile location for those engaged in crime and disorder.
Today we see the start of two Chester Race meetings. A Dispersal will be in place for this, over the weekend to allow officers to deal with any issues of crime and disorder at an early stage to prevent escalation. Prior to the meetings we have officers deployed in the City as part of Operation Plus, which aims to provide a visible presence in the City and set the tone in terms of behaviour. It also sees the deployment of a Drug Dog, which has been provided by Chester Race Course. Again this is to detect and deter those involved in drug misuse. After the Races we’ll have additional officers in the City to police the night time economy. This aspect of the operation will be supported by our Licensing Enforcement officer and will also involve the deployment of the Safer Streets Bus.
On Tuesday our Business Crime SPOC from the Beat Team, Crime Prevention Officer and Cyber Resilience team took part in a drop in session with Chester BID to support businesses in the City with crime prevention advice.
We continue to carry out Project Servator deployments in the City, which I know we demonstrated to several of you when we carried out the walk around in the City, but I thought it would be useful to share a video we have recently created which shows how this tactic works. I’ve attached a link below;
Below is a link to Residents Voice, which is a survey which allows you to tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area. Whilst it is called Residents Voice, this is also open for Businesses to complete which is something I would encourage. I know this has been circulated before but it can be completed by people again, as many times as they want, as the issues may change and it’s important that the results are current.
