Good afternoon,
Please find below an update with regards the last two weeks.
We continue to carry out high visibility patrolling under Operation Momentum where we are deploying both Chester Police Officers and officers from forcewide teams including Armed Response and Roads Crime Unit.
We have carried out Project Servator deployments in the City and are keen to work with businesses, residents and visitors to help us to identify suspicious behaviour. To that end the Scan (See Check and Notify) training has been taking place to help show people what to look for and how such behaviour can be deterred. I would urge anyone who hasn’t taken part in this training to take up the opportunity that is being offered and coordinated by Ian Tordoff. We are also looking for opportunities to put displays or signage up to promote Project Servator which acts as a deterrent.
Over the last couple of weeks we have had some issues with anti social behaviour outside both Chester Railway Station and in the Bars Roundabout subway, these have predominantly involved rough sleepers and street drinkers. As a result of some incidents that have taken place, two arrests have been made and I have authorised Dispersals in the area. We have had great support from the Community Safety Wardens and Street Scene, and the issues have reduced in the area. We will continue to target these areas as part of our Patrol Plan. We have also been working with the Complex Needs Team and wider Multi Agency Rough Sleeper group to look for longer term problem solving solutions.
We have been dealing with other individuals who have been coming to our attention, with a view to providing longer term solutions. This has involved the issuing of Community Protection Warning Letters which will often have the desired effect in improving behaviour, but also begins the process for issuing other orders such as Community Protection Notices or Criminal Behaviour Orders, which place conditions on individuals, which if breached can result in custodial sentences.
Last Saturday we took part in Operation Luna with the Local Authority, This involved the deployment of Passive Drug Dogs along with a team of officers. This lead to a number of positive finds, resulting in an arrest, three people being reported for summons to court and Community Resolutions being issued, to provide early intervention and prevent further offending. Such operations provide a huge deterrent to people either possessing or supplying drugs, and we have a number of other such deployments planned for the coming months at different times and days of the week to make the area hostile to those wishing to commit crime.
Below is a link to Residents Voice, which is a survey which allows you to tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area. Whilst it is called Residents Voice, this is also open for Businesses to complete which is something I would encourage. I know this has been circulated before but it can be completed by people again, as many times as they want, as the issues may change and it’s important that the results are current.
