City Centre Policing Update 12th July 2025

Good Afternoon,

We are going to be significantly increasing the use of Neighbourhood Alerts as a means to update the community in terms of crime prevention advice and policing activities that are taking please. We are able to direct these to particular groups or location. Please can I ask that you promote registration for this amongst your networks.

Cheshire Police Alert is the community messaging system brought to you by Cheshire Constabulary and servicing the whole of Cheshire. By registering with Cheshire Police Alert, you receive news and appeals, local crime information and crime prevention advice – direct to you as an e-mail, mobile text or voice message. Registering with this site is completely free, and not only allows you to receive messages about your local area, but also allows you to feedback information to your local policing teams to help them better police your neighbourhood.

We have been hosting a Project Servator training course these week for both Chester based officers, but also officers from across Cheshire. This has resulted in deployments in the City, whilst the team have been learning how to deploy the tactic.

We had a Pop Up Police Station event in Eastgate Street, which featured our Safety Bus enabling members of the public to engage with officers. Such activity will continue to take place throughout the summer at key locations.

We are continuing to deploy officers on Operation Momentum to provide a visible presence. These officers will be supported by officers on Operation Sidelines which is a national initiative to increase police visibility. This will involve additional patrols a key time and hot spot locations.

This weekend sees Chester Races, so we have a Dispersal in place until 1200hrs tomorrow, along with additional patrols after the meeting tonight to police the Night Time Economy. As I type we also have officers deployed on Operation Plus, supported by a Passive Drug Dog to detect and deter anyone carrying drugs, but also carrying out any crime and disorder in the City.

With the current hot weather can I remind people to make sure they don’t leave windows open when they are out as opportunist thieves will sometimes seek to exploit this by either entering buildings or reaching through to steal items.

We are recruiting for both Regular Police Officers and the Special Constabulary. If you are or know someone who maybe interested in applying please follow the link below to our website for further information.

We continue to place updates on the work we are doing on our Social Media accounts. If you are on Facebook please follow us. On our Chester Police page we report on the activity we’re carrying out and have appeals for information relating to incidents that have taken place.

We utilise Residents Voice to identify the issues that are causing the public concern. As the survey is anonymous we try to feedback on social media the work we are doing to dela with these issues. Please continue to complete these surveys. Whilst it is called a Residents Voice survey, it is equally important we hear from those who work in the City, so this is open to everyone to complete. If you have completed it before, please complete it on a regular basis so we are kept up to date with the current issues that are causing concern.

The link to the survey is below, and should only take a few minutes to complete.
