City Centre Policing Update 13th June 2025

Good afternoon,

Firstly, apologies for there been no update over the last couple of weeks, I was on annual leave then away on a training course.

This afternoon and tomorrow will see Chester Races taking place, so you will see additional officers on duty in the City. We will be deploying officers before the meetings as part of Operation Plus, which will set the tone in terms of behaviour with officers dealing with any poor behaviour at an early stage and enforcing the conditions of the PSPO. This operation also involves the deployment of a Passive Drug Dog. This not only disrupts and detects those who are carrying drugs, but also serves as a deterrent to others. After the meeting there will be additional resources to police the night time economy. In a similar way to previous race meetings, we’ll be carrying out operations with Taxi Licensing Teams from not only Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority but also other authorities whose taxis operate in Chester City Centre. These checks ensure the safety of those using taxis and that the drivers are operating correctly.

We continue to enforce the use of Criminal Behaviour Orders to ensure those that have been issued with them know that they are to be adhered to. This has resulted in arrests over the last couple of weeks when individuals have breached the conditions of their Criminal Behaviour Orders by being in areas where they have been excluded from. These orders provide a long term solution to deal with individuals who cause anti social behaviour in the City.

We are continuing to gather evidence to apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders and Criminal Protection Notices. This is why it is important that incidents are reported to us, so we can use these as evidence towards such orders. We have several such applications going through the criminal justice system at the present time.

We have been deploying officers to carry out the Operation Momentum Patrol Plan with the support of Forcewide resources in the City to provide as a visible presence.

As part of our ongoing work to tackle drug supply, the City Team have been carrying out proactive stop searches of suspicious individuals. Earlier in the week this resulted in the arrest of a male for possession with intent to supply drugs. Again, such activity is intended to make Chester a hostile place for those involved in drug use and supply.

The City Team regularly work with Chester Against Business Crime to create a network of businesses who are aware of criminals operating in the area, crime types and they also manage the City Link Radio System. This is a really important network that again makes it more difficult for criminals to operate in the area.

We continue to place updates on the work we are doing on our Social Media accounts. If you are on Facebook please follow us. On our Chester Police page we report on the activity we’re carrying out and have appeals for information relating to incidents that have taken place.

We utilise Residents Voice to identify the issues that are causing the public concern. As the survey is anonymous we try to feedback on social media the work we are doing to dela with these issues. Please continue to complete these surveys. Whilst it is called a Residents Voice survey, it is equally important we hear from those who work in the City, so this is open to everyone to complete. If you have completed it before, please complete it on a regular basis so we are kept up to date with the current issues that are causing concern.

The link to the survey is below, and should only take a few minutes to complete.
