City Centre Policing Update 5th September 2025

Good afternoon,

I’ve returned now from leave so can update you in terms of the policing activity that has been taking place this week in the City. On Tuesday evening an operation took place in the City involving the Beat Management Team, Western Exploitation team and the Roads Crime Unit. The operation was to target the use of E Bikes in the City. A number of bikes were stopped and 16 were seized in relation to offences they have committed. Such activity will be carried out on a frequent to deal with offences involving E Bikes and Electric Assisted Bikes.

We continue to deploy a range of resources in the City to tackle crime and anti social behaviour, whilst providing a visible presence.

This week the Policing Minister, Dame Diana Johnson visited Chester so we were able to outline the ongoing policing activity that we are carrying out in the City.

Today we carried out a Pop Up Police Station at the Chester Bus Interchange to provide a presence there whilst engaging with the public who are present.

We have made arrests for retail thefts in the City this week following partnership working between businesses, CCTV and officers deployed in the City Centre.

With Chester Races taking place last weekend we deployed both Operation Plus pre races to set the tone in relation to behaviour in the City then Operation Recordings after the Races to ensure Taxis were compliant with their regulations. These operations were supported by an uplift of officers in the City to police the night time economy.

We continue to place updates on the work we are doing on our Social Media accounts. If you are on Facebook please follow us. On our Chester Police page we report on the activity we’re carrying out and have appeals for information relating to incidents that have taken place.

We utilise Residents Voice to identify the issues that are causing the public concern. As the survey is anonymous we try to feedback on social media the work we are doing to dela with these issues. Please continue to complete these surveys. Whilst it is called a Residents Voice survey, it is equally important we hear from those who work in the City, so this is open to everyone to complete. If you have completed it before, please complete it on a regular basis so we are kept up to date with the current issues that are causing concern.

The link to the survey is below, and should only take a few minutes to complete.
